The exchange order (MCO) can be exchanged to the JR Kyushu Rail Pass Northern Kyushu Area at authorized exchange offices located in JR Northern Kyushu area after you arrive in Japan. The JR Kyushu Rail Pass Northern Kyushu Area is valid for unlimited travel on limited express trains, Kyushu Shinkansen of the Kyushu Railway Co., in ordinary reserved and non-reserved seating, and on ordinary trains of JR Kyushu in the designated area for the pass (Northern Kyushu Area). But the JR Kyushu Rail Pass Northern Kyushu Area is NOT valid for travel on sleeper trains, the Sanyo Shinkansen, JR Kyushu buses. Only foreign tourists who has non-Japanese passport and visits Japan for sightseeing under the entry status of "temporary visitor", or people who has Japanese passport but is qualified to live permanently in that country or married to a non-Japanese residing in a country other than Japan can purchase this Exchange Order (MCO) for the JR Kyushu Rail Pass Northern Kyushu Area. You will be required to fill in a short application form and present your passport (must have "temporary visitor" stamp) when you change MCO to the pass. Only the person whose name is inscribed on the face of the pass can use it. The validity period of MCO is 3 months after issued date. When you exchange it, you can decide the start date of use the pass, but the start date must be within a month after exchanged date. You should carry your passport during travel with the pass, and be prepared to show it if requested. Neither a MCO nor the pass can be reissued if lost, stolen, soiled, or otherwise rendered unusable.
