The exchange order (MCO) can be exchanged to JAPAN RAIL PASS at the JAPAN RAIL PASS exchange offices after you arrive in Japan. The JAPAN RAIL PASS offers an incredibly economical way to travel throughout Japan by rail. During valid duration, you can have ultimate ride of All JR Group Railways Shinkansen "bullet trains" (except "NOZOMI" and "MIZUHO" trains), limited express trains, express trains, rapid or local trains, and also, Tokyo monorail, Local lines of JR bus companies, some JR highway bus routes, JR Miyajima ferry. Only foreign tourists who has non-Japanese passport and visits Japan for sightseeing under the entry status of "temporary visitor", or people who has Japanese passport but is qualified to live permanently in that country or married to a non-Japanese residing in a country other than Japan can purchase this Exchange Order (MCO) for JAPAN RAIL PASS. You will be required to fill in a short application form and present your passport (must have "temporary visitor" stamp) when you change MCO to the actual JAPAN RAIL PASS. Only the person whose name is inscribed on the face of the pass can use it. The validity period of MCO is 3 months after issued date. When you exchange, you can decide the start date of use the pass, but it must be within a month after exchanged date. You should carry your passport during travel with JAPAN RAIL PASS, and be prepared to show it if requested. Neither a MCO nor a JAPAN RAIL PASS can be reissued if lost, stolen, soiled, or otherwise rendered unusable.
