Roman sites and historical places

Enjoy this tour to Nimes, a great city of the arts, proud of its prestigious Roman past. See the antique buildings; the Roman amphitheatre, the Maison Carree (one of the best preserved temples in the Roman world), Augustus' Gate and the Castellum. We visit Uzes, a charming city set in the garrigues countryside (Mediterranean vegetation). Uzes has preserved its lay-out as a medieval stronghold, embellished in the 17th and 18th centuries. See the picturesque square 'Place aux Herbes', the Episcopal Palace, the Ducal Palace, the Fenestrelle Tower and the Cathedral. Outside of Uzes is the catchment area of the Roman aqueduct (Pont du Gard) that brought spring water to Nimes. We visit Pont du Gard, the amazing remains of a 1st century Roman aqueduct, protected by UNESCO.
